Dear Chapa Elementary Families, This morning, at approximately 7:35 a.m., Chapa Elementary briefly went into an evacuation status after the campus fire alarm was activated. All students and staff followed safety procedures and were safely evacuated. The La Joya ISD Emergency Management team responded promptly and investigated the situation. The activation was determined to have been caused by a cleaning spray, and no fire or safety threat was found on campus. The evacuation was officially lifted at 7:55 a.m., and the campus returned to normal operations. We appreciate the calm and cooperation of our students and staff as safety protocols were followed. The safety of our students and employees remains our top priority, and we are grateful for the quick response that allowed learning to continue with minimal disruption. Dear Chapa Elementary Families,

We want to share an update regarding an incident that occurred today at Chapa Elementary.

At approximately 2:20 p.m., the campus fire alarm was activated. As a precaution, staff immediately followed safety procedures and evacuated all students and staff from the building. All students and staff remained safe throughout the process.

The alarm was triggered by smoke from a food item being heated on campus. The Alton Fire Department responded promptly, confirmed the building was clear, and assisted with ventilating the area.

By 2:34 p.m., the evacuation was fully completed and closed. Once the building was deemed safe, students and staff returned inside, and normal campus operations resumed.

Thank you for your continued trust and support. Student and staff safety remains our top priority.
