Edinburg, TX - Years of hard work, sacrifice, determination, and late nights culminated in a moment of celebration and recognition as La Joya ISD’s top graduating seniors gathered alongside their families at the 35th Annual RGV Partnership Valley Proud Honors Banquet - an evening dedicated to honoring the academic excellence, perseverance, and bright futures of the Rio Grande Valley’s valedictorians and salutatorians.

Hosted at the Region One Education Service Center, the banquet brought together top-ranking seniors and their families for an evening dedicated to honoring the bright futures ahead of the Class of 2026.

Representing each of La Joya ISD’s high schools, the district’s valedictorians and salutatorians joined fellow student leaders from throughout the Valley as they were celebrated before educators, community leaders, business partners, and loved ones who gathered to recognize their remarkable achievements.

Throughout the evening, students and guests heard from several distinguished speakers, including Omar Ochoa, Mayor of the City of Edinburg, who shared words of encouragement and inspiration with the graduating seniors as they brace for the next chapter of their academic and professional journeys.

The banquet highlighted not only academic success, but also the commitment, discipline, and resilience required to rise to the top of one’s graduating class.

Adding to the excitement of the evening, several scholarships were raffled off to participating students. Among the recipients was Joshua Nguyen, Jimmy Carter Early College High School Valedictorian, who was awarded a $1,000 scholarship.A group of five people, including a young man in a suit holding a certificate and medal, stand together for a photo.

The evening also served as an opportunity to strengthen connections between education, business, and community leadership across the region - reinforcing the importance of investing in student success and future workforce development.

La Joya ISD’s participation in the RGV Partnership Honors Banquet reflects the district’s continued commitment to empowering students and fostering meaningful community partnerships in alignment with Priority 4 of the district’s Achieving Excellence Together: 2030 Strategic Plan: Community Trust, Unity, and Partnership.
