Using Yarn to Learn Math-

Students from second grade were doing a group activity using a number line. Second grade students were asked to subtract using yarn, and numbers were placed on the board.  The yarn was used across the dry erase board and the numbers were to be placed on the yarn in front of the board.  Students went up in groups and placed themselves in order from least to greatest.  They learned how to use a number line and subtract using a group activity. All second grade teachers used this activity at Elodia R. Chapa elementary.  Students also worked with their bilingual pair and used problems that were in their Envision math book to work out their problems.  Students were engaged and a few of them were called to work on individual problems solving them on the white board using dry erase markers.
