Butter UP!

On Dr. Suess Week our 4th grade students at Elodia R. Chapa got to experience how to make butter with our beloved librarian Mrs. Flores. Mrs. Flores first intrigued the students by reading the book called The Butter Battle Book by Dr. Suess. Students had hands on experience on measuring and following a recipe. Students were able to taste their own creamy buttery creation. As they spread the butter on their toasted bread students’ mouths watered. You could see the joy in their faces and their eyes lit up as they took a bite. By the end of the day, students went home amazed to show their parents what they had created in a matter of minutes. This help teachers tie a good book to skills needed in reading and math. Kandra Leal, a 4th grade student, said, “Reading can be fun if you know how to implement fun activities.”
